Orthix vs The Orthotic Group (TOG): A Fair Comparison for Clinics
Orthix (Vancouver) and The Orthotic Group, or TOG (Markham, Ontario), are both custom orthotics labs that make orthotics from practitioners' prescriptions and supply clinics in Canada. This page sets out how each one works, using only what each lab publishes on its own website, so your clinic can compare like for like. Information from their public website as of Oct 2026.
The short version
- Both labs make custom foot orthotics for practitioners, not for direct sale to patients, and both accept digital orders as well as foam impressions.
- The Orthotic Group has worked with practitioners since 1985 and is part of the Orthotic Holdings Inc. (OHI) family of brands. Its website lists 15+ orthotic styles, footwear and compression hosiery, ordering through OHI ProCAST or the GaitScan system with TOG Client Software, and foam and plaster casting supplies.
- Orthix is built around ordering in one app: complete the online assessment, capture both feet on a phone or iPad, the app generates a 3D model, and you submit. No dedicated scanner is needed, and typical fabrication is 5–10 days after lab acceptance.

How ordering differs
With The Orthotic Group, according to its website, practitioners can order through its Practitioner Login, scan and order with OHI ProCAST, or use the GaitScan system with TOG Client Software. Clinics that cast can fill in its Custom Orthotic Order Form and send foam or plaster casts using a return shipping label. Its order form also offers a second pair made from a cast on file (“casts valid for 3 years”).
With Orthix, the order and the foot capture happen in one app:
- Complete the online assessment. It replaces the paper form, and drafts save until you're ready.
- Capture both feet on a phone or iPad.
- The app generates a 3D model. Review it with your patient.
- Submit the order. It reaches our Vancouver lab when you press submit.
- Track the order and message the lab in the app until it ships to your clinic.
